Your adventure begins with an approximately 30-minute reindeer sleigh ride covering 2–3 kilometres. Sit back beneath warm blankets or traditional reindeer hides as your reindeer leads you through the winter scenery at a naturally peaceful pace.
Along the way, take in the silence of Lapland and keep your eyes open for signs of Arctic wildlife. Depending on the day and conditions, you may even spot hares, squirrels or reindeer in the surrounding landscape.
During the darkest weeks of winter, the limited daylight creates Lapland's famous blue-hour atmosphere, when the snow-covered surroundings take on beautiful shades of blue and soft Arctic light.
After your sleigh ride, spend approximately 30 minutes by the campfire. Warm up with a hot drink and light snacks while your local guide shares stories and insights about reindeer, reindeer herding and life in Lapland.

- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event

What do I need to bring?
Come ready to slow down and enjoy the Arctic outdoors. The Winter Adventure Reindeer Safari includes time both in the sleigh and around the campfire, so staying warm is the key to enjoying every moment.
- Several warm layers that can easily be added or removed depending on the weather
- Weatherproof outerwear to protect against snow, wind and cold
- Proper winter footwear with warm socks, as temperatures can be very low
- Mittens rather than thin gloves, especially for children and during colder periods
- A fully charged phone or camera – cold temperatures can drain batteries faster than usual
- A little Arctic curiosity – your guide will share stories about the reindeer and life in Lapland along the way
Good to know: You will be sitting still for part of the experience, which can feel colder than walking outdoors. We therefore recommend dressing warmer than you would for a normal winter walk. Warm blankets or reindeer hides are provided in the sleigh for extra comfort.

The Winter Adventure Reindeer Safari lasts approximately 1 hour in total, including a 30–35-minute reindeer sleigh ride and approximately 30 minutes by the campfire.
The sleigh ride covers approximately 2–3 km through the winter landscape at the reindeer’s naturally peaceful pace.
Warm Arctic winter clothing is essential. Thermal overalls are not included, but warm blankets or traditional reindeer hides are provided in the sleigh for additional warmth.
Follow your reindeer guide’s instructions throughout the experience to ensure a safe and respectful encounter with the animals.
This is an outdoor winter experience in Rovaniemi, so weather, snow and trail conditions may influence the exact route or duration of the sleigh ride.
Reindeer welfare always comes first. As reindeer are living animals, the programme and pace may be adjusted when necessary for their wellbeing.
The experience takes place at Santa Claus Reindeer in Santa Claus Village, and transportation to and from the location is not included.
